Joy Laverne Robinett Whitenack born May 11, 1929 to Reverend and Mrs. Ray Robinett in Hays, KS and died on November 5, 2014.
Joy graduated high school in LaCrosse, KS and attended the University of Kansas (2 years), Kansas State (1 year) and the University of Central Arkansas (UCA, 1 year). She taught school for 3 years at Louisburg, KS and married the love of her life in William ''Bill'' Harris Whitenack, on September 4, 1949. In 1963 she and Bill moved to Grand Island, NE after Bill got his DVM from Kansas State.
Joy helped start the Robinett Family Association of America and served as National Secretary for 10 years. She was President of the Nebraska Veterinary Auxiliary and also served on the national board of Veterinarian Auxiliary. She became President of the national organization in 1987, when the 70th anniversary convention in Chicago. Joy gave motivational speeches to students spouses of veterinarian students around the US.
She became a life master in the American Contract Bridge League in 1976. She loved to cook and belonged to a gourmet club. She also belonged to a book club, the Presbyterian Church, Red Cross, Library Friends, and the birthday club in Grand Island. Joy loved to travel and she/Bill visited Europe twice, along with many islands. The Little Theater in Grand Island gave her much stage experience, as she did puppeteering there for 9 nears.
In 1988, the couple moved to Conway, AR. Joy taught bridge at UCA and became a certified bridge teacher, helping to start a bridge club there. She belonged to a local chapter PEO and the Bas Bleu Book Club.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law and many nieces/nephews/grand-nieces/grand-nephews.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. A memorial service will be set at a later date.
Joy was such an asset to getting the Robinett Family Association off the ground as well as a friend to "Cousin Jim" and Jeanne and a delightful cousin to me in the short time I knew her.. We have missed her. Will look forward to seeing her in Glory! Much comfort and blessing to all her family.

I have fond memories of Aunt Joy & Uncle Bill going back to my early childhood.
Joy was a dear sweet sister-in-law & will be greatly missed.
