I was sad to hear of Mr. Gene's passing. I spent 16 years working for this considerate, generous, and wonderful man. He always made everyone feel special. He remembered my children's names and often asked about how they were doing. He made me feel like family and was ready to answer and help anyway he could. I worked with him after hours for the Phillips County Port Authority in getting vendors for the slack water harbor. He had a persevering spirit in everything he set his hands to. He loved his family and always was the "mature southern gentleman," as he like to be called in the office :-) I missed him when he moved to Texas. I will miss him more now. I pray for grace and comfort for the entire family on this grief journey. Mrs. Nancy, I'm sorry you are having to go through this once again. Eddie, Danny, and Kathy, I know your faith in God will hold you fast. I love all of you.
You are in our thoughts and prayers; Jim & Diane Mayer & the Mayer family

I am saddened by the passing of Mr. Gene Schieffler. He was a man I looked up to in a big way as a child, he was an important man in many ways but quiet leadership with personal resolve are the benchmarks of his life. I spent many hours as a youth playing in the house with the boys at the Plaza home & at the Garland st. home. We may have walked different paths but a little piece of that man's spirit has traveled with me all my life. I am sad for his family but know that he is at peace. Godspeed Mr. Gene!!
Danny and Family, So sorry to hear of the passing of your sweet Dad. He was a good man with a big heart. May God Bless you all and watch over you as you say your goodbyes. Hold on to the memories.
Dear Schieffler Family,
I am deeply saddened by your loss, your dad as I remember was such a kind and friendly man, who was always smiling. He was such sweet neighbor to our family when I was child and lived across from y'all on Garland Street. Keeping your mother, Danny, Eddie, and the grandchildren in my daily prayers. God Bless.
