The Lord called James Alfred Drewry of Tilly, Arkansas home on September 10, 2014. He was 81 years of age. Alfred was born to Thurman Willard Drewry and Martha Jane Crow Drewry on April 12, 1933 at Tilly, Arkansas. Alfred married Bonnie Jean Ward Drewry on December 6, 1951. Together, Alfred and Bonnie had two children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bonnie Jean Drewry of Tilly, AR; their son, James Richard Drewry and wife Linda of Western Grove, AR; their daughter, Kathy Jean Drewry Henry and husband Calvin of Houston, TX; granddaughter Beckie Reid and husband Mike of Hector, AR; grandson Ty Henry of Conway, AR; grandson Adam Henry of Fayetteville, AR; grandson J.O. Drewry of Tilly, AR; granddaughter Ann Drewry of New Orleans, LA; granddaughter Haley Raab of Harrison, AR; great-grandson Wade Thomas and wife Brittany of Russellville, AR; and great-grandson Wyatt Reid of Hector, AR. Alfred is survived by four of his five sisters: Shirley Bohannon of Conway, AR; Bonnie McIntire of Little Rock, AR; Ileene West of Chimes, AR, and Imogene Halsted of Oklahoma.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents: Thurman Willard Drewry and Martha Jane Crow Drewry and one sister, Floella Drewry Housley.
Alfred believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior and was of the Missionary Baptist faith. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He worked as a logger and farmer, and loved to hunt. Alfred's family and friends will remember him fondly and miss him greatly.
Funeral services for Alfred will be 2:00 PM Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Luther Branscum and Bro. Andy Treat officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery near Tilly, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Ty Henry, Adam Henry, J.O. Drewry, Wyatt Reid, Mike Reid and Dale Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Reno, Larry Housley, Johnny Bohannon, Gerald Ray Fountain, Melburn Small, Eulen Godfrey and Crockett Ward
James raised a wonderful family
So sorry for your loss. Family is so special and Alfred was such a good person that we all thought so much of and will really be missed by all of us. He had that mischievous smile about him and we liked hearing the stories he told.
Prayers go out to Bonnie and all of the family. Call us anytime you need us, we will be there for you. Love all of you.
What a legacy of love this good man has left. So rich in family and friends, his truly was a wonderful life! We hope that, in time, you will all be comforted by the precious memories you have of time spent with him.
