September 6, 2014

Miva Bittle, 94, passed away on September 6, 2014 while surrounded by her family. Miva was born in Higden Arkansas on June 24, 1920 to Lee and Nettie Turney.

She was preceded in death by one brother Reedy Turney and a sister Giva Murphree. Miva is survived by her husband, Rizel Bittle, to whom she was married for seventy two years. They have six children Ann Porter (Gene), Kaye Wood (Jim), Larry Bittle (Theresa), Ricky Bittle (Karen), Regina Besancon (Terry), and Benny Bittle (Neillana), twenty two Grandchildren, thirty six Great Grandchildren, two Great Great Grandchildren, and two more babies expected shortly. She is also survived by three sisters, Iva Hicks of Paragould AR, Fay Barnum of St Louis, MO, and Norma Lee Delap of Portland, OR, one brother HA Turney of Denton, TX and her church family at Pleasant Valley church of Christ.
At church she was affectionately known as ''the hat lady'' and served as an unofficial greeter, because each week she stood at the door to give everyone a kiss, or hug or a wink. She will be greatly missed.

Miva returned to school after her children were grown where she earned both a BA and a Master degree. She taught at Central Arkansas Christian and Mabelvale elementary.

Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday September 9, 2014 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas (501) 224-8300. Though I never had the pleasure of meeting Ricky's mom, I know that she must have been a wonderful woman to raise such a wonderful son and family. Reading this obituary makes me wish even more than I had met her. Ricky and Karen, you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Sincere condolences from Donna and family.

We offer our condolences to the family in the loss of their Mother Mrs. Miva. We knew your mom from seeing her at PVCC. We observed what a loving family Mr & Mrs Bittle have. I (Gloria) loved and admired seeing the beautiful hats Mrs. Bittle often wore to church. Mr. & Mrs. Bittle were always very kind. We will miss seeing Mrs. Bittle. May she rest in peace.

I will never forget her kind loving spirit caring for Mrs. Bittle was an honor and a privilege. Every moment I spent with her was truly a gift she made my days special always giving compliments and smiles. I have not known her as long as everyone in her family but I felt like she was a grandmother to me and I loved her dearly. Despite all the changes that your health brings I believe she remembered all the things that matter the most and that she was loved by many. Thank you God for sharing such a beautiful spirit. May God continue to bless and keep the Bittle family.

The sweetest lady I've ever known! She was like my second grandmother. I have so many memories of her from childhood. Jill and I would be at her house after church and she always cooked me something special since I was picky. I actually wrote a paper about her recently for a class, that's how much she meant to me. She was a true person, and loved unconditionally. Someone we can all learn from. I know she is just a talking right now in heaven. Much love to you all. Melonie "Sissy"

Oh, what wonderful memories I have of visiting in her home, usually on the weekends. Her home was filled with children, but she enjoyed inviting others to join in with hers.
I rejoice with you and her as she enters her new home.
