James Paul Vinson, Sr., 74, of Little Rock passed away September 1, 2014. He was born December 17,1939.

James Paul was an Arkansas State Highway patrolman for 34 years and the Chief Pilot for the Highway Department for 15 years, where he retired in 2003.

James Paul was preceded in death by his father, Everett Vinson; two sons, James Paul, Jr. and John David Vinson; grandson, Joseph David Vinson. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara; mother, Anne Vinson; two sisters, Suzie Dunn (Jim) and Sarah Short (Russ); daughter in-law, Renee Vinson; grandsons James Edward Vinson and Christopher Sowell; granddaughter Sarah Sowell; 4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be a Graveside Service and Burial on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Woodland Memorial Park of Cleburne County, AR with Pastor Ted Grove officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice Care, 1004 Van Ronkle Street, Suite 1, Conway Arkansas 72032-4333.

The Wilson family was very sorry of the news about James Paul passing. Marty and myself will be at the grave service tomorrow. We have fond memories of the family gathering at my Mom and Dad house Aunt Helen and Uncle Peterbo house. James Paul is at peace now. Love to you Bobby Jo..

Had wonderful long lasting memories of Jim and his family throughout many years. Ranging from police work to hunting and fishing. Will always regard him as a friend and coworker. My entire family will miss him.
