Edward Wooten, 88, of Dyess, entered into rest on Friday, December 20, 2013. He was born May 9, 1925 in Lewisville, Arkansas to Robert and Augusta Wooten. He was a retired maintenance superintendent at American Greetings, a member of Dyess Central Baptist Church and former Mayor of Dyess for 12 years. He is survived by his wife, Janie Wooten; one son Jerry Wooten of Dyess; one daughter Janet Bailey of Dyess; four grandchildren: Wayne Bailey, Jeff Bailey, Jason Wooten, Daniel Wooten; six great-grandchildren: Sidney Bailey, Annalea Bailey, Kalyn Bailey, Braxton Bailey, Olivia Wooten, Dyess Wooten; one brother Curtis Wooten of Farmington, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Connie Jean Wooten; daughter-in-law Jean Ellen Wooten, son-in-law Donnie Bailey; brothers Richard Wooten, Oscar Wooten, Wilburn Wooten, Teddy Wooten, O'Neal Wooten; sisters Verna Rogers, Susie Lee Garner, Dillie Reed, Lucille Collier.

I am sorry to hear of Mr Wootens passing.. He was a good man and he was good to myself when I was younger. . He gave me my first job working for the city. . We are praying for you...The Blackwell Family

There are not many men left today like Ed. He was such an upstanding, honest, Christian family man. He was always good to me and my family and I am thankful to have known him and Janie. Love and prayers to all of the family!
