Ernest E. ''Gene'' Ballard, 84, on Thursday, October 10, 2013, had a special meeting with his Lord Jesus, it was Face to Face. Gene was born March 12, 1929 in Benton, Arkansas and is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vonceille, three sons: Glenn (Paige) Ballard of Little Rock, Sam (Becky) Ballard, and Steve (Debbi) Ballard, and daughter-in-law, Cindy Ballard all of Benton. He enjoyed five grandchildren: Jason Ballard, Brooke Neufer, Kelsey Schramko, Anna Ballard, and Harrison Ballard, and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding Gene in death were his parents, Sam and Mary Ballard of Benton, two brothers, Franklin and Rowland Ballard, and sister, Maudie Posey. Gene served as a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 32 years of service, was an avid fisherman, and loved to play and coach baseball.
Join the family in the celebration of his life at the First Baptist Church, Benton, at 11:00 a.m., Monday October 14th. Officiating are Ministers Greg Kirksey, Edd Spurlock, and Frances Raley. Visitation Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to service. Interment at Sharon Cemetery.
