Vivien Berniece Brooks LaRue, 84, of Bassett, Arkansas died Wednesday September 17, 2013 at St. Andrews Health Care in Conway, Arkansas.
Berniece met Bill, the love of her life while a teenager in Friars Point, Mississippi. Bill was with the Corp of Engineers and worked on the Mississippi River while docked at Friars Point. They married and began a wonderful marriage. They lived the majority of their married years in Bassett where they built their own home. Berniece was an active member of the Bassett Presbyterian Church where Bill served as a deacon and then an elder. Berniece was a stay at home mom, but active in community affairs. She was a very active member of Progressive Club, Children of the Confederacy and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was regular poll worker at election times. Her biggest hobby was her family, but she also enjoyed travel, camping, time on the lake, genealogy, reading, crafts, and playing cards with friends. She also was a substitute Teacher at Shawnee School.
She was preceded in death by her husband ,of 67 years William C. (Bill) LaRue Jr., mother, Venia May Baum, father, George Vivian Brooks, step father, Orvis Wayne Baum, brothers, Virgil Lee Brooks, and George Alvin Brooks.
She is survived by three daughters, Vivien Ann LaRue McCullough (John) of Conway, AR; Pamela Jean LaRue Whitecotton (Jerry) of Sierra Vista, AZ; and Cindy Gay LaRue Gayman (Mark) of Bassett, AR; two sons, Jerry Lee LaRue (Kim) of Flippin, AR; William Wayne LaRue (Julie) of Conway, AR. Grandchildren. Tracey, Blaine, Chimene, Brooke, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Michael, Heather and Will, and 17 great grand children.
Visitation will from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on September 21, 2013 at Roller-Swift Funeral Home in Osceola with services at 10:00 AM on Sunday September 22, 2013 at the Presbyterian Church in Bassett, Arkansas with burial following at Bassett Cemetery.
We are so sorry for your loss. Mr. & Mrs. LaRue were great people and a great asset to our community. We miss them both greatly. Our prayers are with you. GOD BLESS,

I am so sorry to learn of Berniece's death and feel your grief and sorrow, Your mom and dad were dear people to my life in that small community of Bassett. I know the Angels and Bill rejoiced at her coming. I pray the Lord's comfort to all who loved her.
