of Benton, AR
September 2, 1947 - July 18, 2013
David Thomas Moreland, 65, of Benton passed away at his home on Thursday, July 18, 2013. He was born September 2, 1947 in East St. Louis, IL to the late Harold and Marge Thomas Moreland. Mr. Moreland operated his own insurance agency in Bryant and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Benton.
David's favorite moments involved doing anything with his three grandchildren, having his family out on the houseboat, watching sports, and taking his wife out for dinner. As a husband and father, he was always there for all of us, a steady presence, and a constant example of God's steadfast love and an emblem of patience and strength through this last tremendous trial.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Smithey Moreland of the home; two daughters, Leslie and husband Rich Cochran of Little Rock and Angela Black of Benton, three grandchildren, Taylor Black, Brandon Black, and Trey Cochran, other relatives, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Benton with Rev. David Jones and Rev. Victor Green officiating.
Reception will follow the service in the church's fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Music Department and American Cancer Society.

Mr. Moreland was my insurance agent since I moved to Arkansas back in 2003. I got a letter from State Farm today informing me of the very sad news. Mr. Moreland was a very kind man and very understanding when I was in need after my meeting with a white tailed deer going to work one morning. I called and told him what had happened and that I had pictures and a report by the Pine Bluff arsenal security about the incident. I was worried about how to get things done but he reassured me. " You just give me the name of where you want your vehicle repaired and I'll take care of the rest" he said. He trusted me and took care of everything. To the family whom I'll never know or meet, I want to express my sadness and wanted you to know that your husband and father treated me with great respect and kindness.
We were very saddened to learn of Mr Morelands' passing today in the letter from his company. He has been the best insurance man a person can have since 1989. Prayers will continue for the family for Peace, comfort & understanding in this sorrowful time. God Bless you all. Earth's loss is heavens gain.
Im so sorry to hear about David. I worked for him about 2 yrs back around 1998? My good friend Missy who also worked there as a receptionist informed me this morning. Please know that you all are in my prayers and again what a tragedy and I am so sorry.
Dear Angela,
I am sorry and sad to hear about the loss of your dad. May the prayers of your loved ones and friends and the sweet memories sustain you through this time. If I know your loving dad, he is already preparing the rooms in his mansion for his beautiful strong wife, his two lovely daughters, and his precious grand kids. Hold on to the promise of our Lord...Your family will be together again!
Leslie and Family,
You are in my prayers.

Although it saddens me that we met the way we did, I am honored that you (Annette) and David allowed me to become a part of your wonderful family during this battle. You know I love you, Angela and my sweet David. He was truly blessed to have such a loving family and devoted wife. 💙
I will always remember David's smile that would warm any heart...Heaven is enjoying that wonderful smile today. I will always remember the many laughs we all had together riding home in the ice after working at Wal-Mart. May the love of God be with you all and comfort you during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and will continue. God bless.
I wasn't able to be there today but please know you were in my thoughts all day. I can't imagine the pain you're feeling and I hurt for you. You will have a joyful reunion someday and what a glorious day it will be!
Always remember the fun times - laughter- joy-smiles.
He was always such a loving person - fun to be with and loved his family so much.
Live with the memories of the lake, ballgames, grandkids, everyday. He is missed. We love the Moreland family.

I started work in Bryant in 1974. Can't remember having any other insurance than with David. As fellow outsiders, and business servants in a small town, we shared many stories of struggles and triumphs as well as the politics of a small town. We shared values and opinions and respected each others views. We became great business friends. I have missed his presence during this tough battle and will continue to remember him very fondly. Will pray for God's "peace that passeth understanding" for all you in his family

I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of David. He was a remarkable man to say the least. I enjoyed our visit earlier in the week as I have many times, and I am happy that we were able to share prayers together again. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Today, in complete sadness, I offer this prayer to all of you:
Almighty God, we remember this day before thee thy faithful servant David; and we pray that, having opened to him the gates of larger life, thou wilt receive him more and more into thy joyful service, that, with all who have faithfully served thee in the past, he may share in the eternal victory of Jesus Christ our Lord; who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
May Gods perpetual light shine upon David, and may His loving arms console you during this most difficult of times.
Gods peace.
Robert
DAVID WAS MY AUTO INS GUY AND MY FRIEND FOR 15 YEARS I AM PRAYING FOR HIS FAMILY AT THIS TIME AND REJOICING IN KNOWING HE IS IN A GREATER PAIN-FREE PLACE.
Prayers for a wonderful family. Will be greatly missed.
Annette, I can't begin to express my sadness when I read about David, but when I heard the news I became filled with joy that David now stands in the presence of our Lord. He sees Him as He is and is now experiencing all we have longed for.
David looks Christ in the face and sings his praises to Him. He has received his crown of glory and is with all the Saints in heaven because he is now a Saint himself. He is seeing all the glory Christ has promised us and is in awe of it's beauty. You and the kids know you will see him someday and the next time it will be for eternity. I hope this gives some of you peace in the time of our sorrow.
We all have to go through the cycle of life, David is already there and will be one of the Saints to greet you when you arrive. Love you all.....
