Lane Andrew Huie was born in Little Rock, AR on January 28, 1986 to Casey Andrew Huie and Darla Southern Huie. Lane passed away on July 4, 2013 in Little Rock, AR due to injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James E. Huie.
Lane graduated from Benton High School where he played football. He attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He served as General Manager at the family-owned restaurant, Dizzy's Gypsy Bistro.
Lane shared his life with Becky Knox and her seven year-old son, Levon. He loved both of them very much.
Lane is survived by his parents, Darla and Casey Huie of Little Rock, his sister, Lindsay Cowling Carter (Adam), of Little Rock and his niece, Madalin Carter and nephew, Owen Carter. He is survived by his grandmother, Anita Huie of Little Rock and grandparents, Robert and Mary Ann Southern of Benton. Additionally, he is survived by the following uncles and aunts, Lisa and Chad Heritage, of Benton, Scott and Marie Huie, of Little Rock and Alison and Larry Fletcher of Alexander. Lane is survived by the following cousins, Blake Heritage, Jake Jakonczuk, Olivia Heritage, Rachel Huie, Sarah Huie, Hannah Huie, Leah Huie, Rebekah Fletcher Seljan, Thomas Fletcher and Rylee Kay Fletcher and a multitude of dear friends. Some friends, due to their relationship, earned a special status. Those friends are Aimee Stockton and Somer Kean. Lane is survived by godfather, Michael Cowling and god sister, Hannah Cowling.
Lane was a kind and tender-hearted person with a genuine love for animals. A wounded baby bird was always nursed back to health, a box turtle was never driven past on the roadside; but, was always gently moved to a safer place. From puppies to possums, all were treated with respect by Lane.
Lane was blessed with a huge sense of humor and he used it often! The freight-train horn he installed on his truck provided him much pleasure as an accomplished practical-joker.
Lane, also, loved the outdoors. He enjoyed snowboarding, boating, kayaking, hiking, all sports, off-roading, camping, swimming, archery, music, playing piano, cooking and our big family dinners. He loved rivers, lakes and the ocean. He was a notorious storm-chaser and weather buff. He loved to travel and was always up for an adventure. Following a brief move to Colorado, part of his heart stayed in the mountains of that beautiful state. His enthusiasm for life will be terribly absent in our family culture. He was a good man.
There will be a private memorial held for Lane at a later date. The Rev. Greg Kirksey will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your animal shelter of choice in memory of Lane Andrew Huie.

Lane was a wonderful person, and very unique. He always made people laugh no matter what the situation was, and was very full of life. I was in drug court with Lane for 16 months. Wow.. my heart is broken by this! Lane was a great guy!! I never will forget his class clown attitude!! I will never forget when we were in 11th grade and for some reason he had his arm in a cast - he talked me into doing all his homework for him!!! :) Also I will cherish the moment of standing beside him during graduation!!!
