Jennie BurrowI am a Veteran.

of Benton, AR

July 21, 1981 - April 8, 2013

Jennie Burrow, age 31, of Benton, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013. Jennie was the daughter of Don and Darlene Burrow and the late Eva Coleman. Jennie was born on July 21, 1981 in Benton, Arkansas. When Jennie was quiet young, she was a girl scout and loved scouting. Jennie attended Bryant High School and later graduated from the Eastern College of Vocational Health. She aspired to be a nurse, but in 2007 she decided to join the U.S. Army and become a warrior for her country. After training, Jennie deployed to Iraq with the 10th Mountain Division. While in the Army, Jennie was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, The Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal with Service Star. Jennie was also awarded the Combat Action Badge as a result of a rocket attack and subsequent firefight at Forward Operating Base Rustimayah near Baghdad.

Jennie loved to go to the lake house with Dad and step-mom Darlene. She loved all children and especially loved entertaining all Dad's and Darlene's grandchildren including her own eleven year old son, Dylan. Whether taking Dylan, Ronnie, and Mikayla for four-wheeler rides, tubing, water skiing or just swimming at Lake Ouachita, Jennie always made sure that the children had a good time and knew that they were loved. In many ways, Jennie was just a big kid herself.

Jennie was generous almost to a fault. Although she herself never had in life very many material things and very little wealth, if you asked her for something it was yours, no strings attached and no expectation of return payment. All Jennie wanted was your friendship and for you and her to be happy.

But, as with so many soldiers, Jennie came back to us a wounded warrior. In the end, the PTSD and all her personal demons just became more than she could bear. But, no longer will she have to feel the loneliness, rejection, hopelessness and despair that haunted her here on this earth. Jennie attended church when she could, read the Bible continuously and knew that Jesus Christ was her savior. She will be missed by so many but to all of those she would simply say ''I am with God now and can finally be eternally happy and at peace.''

Jennie is survived by her son Dylan Wayne Allega, her father Don Burrow, her step-mom Darlene Burrow, her brother Jeremy Burrow, her step-brother Chad Martin, her grandmother Helen Shaw, her Aunt Carolyn and Uncle David, her little nephew and niece Ronnie and Mikayla Martin, all of the Curtis family here in Benton, all of mom Darlene's family in the Lonoke County and Fort Smith area and all her friends that cared for her so much.

Pallbearers will be David and Bradley Burrow, Glen Hogue, Marc and Greg Corley and Allen Shivers. Honorary/alternate pallbearers will be Kevin Clifton and George Shivers.

Funeral services for Jennie will be 12:00 noon Friday, April 12, 2013 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047). Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas.

Visitation will be from 11:00 12:00 P.M., one hour prior to the funeral service Friday.

Don and Darlene, I’m so sorry to hear the news of your daughter. Thank you for sending me an e-mail informing me of the loss of your daughter. It must have been so difficult to send out the e-mail such as this. No child should go before their parents and I can’t even imagine what the two of you are going through. Thank you for the service your daughter provided to this great country of ours. My thoughts and prays are with you and your family during this time. Hans and Kathy Quennet

Don and Darlene...I don't know you, and I didn't know your precious Jennie, but I know your pain. Please accept my deepest condolences - they are sent with the tears of a mother who lost her veteran son to PTSD suicide last August. Please know that Jennie's life is not described by the manner of her death. Jennie was a brave and beautiful being and she fought demons we can't even contemplate. Our family thanks yours for her service. My email is here; if I can be of any help at all on your journey, please feel free to contact me. I send you thoughts of peace and strength. You will get through this. - Sue Barbour

Your death came to me this Thursday morning and it was such a shock all the way from Nigeria. You cared so much for your brother that you wanted people to write him so I did. On Sunday, the day before your death, I sent you a message saying that I hope he gets the letter and you replied, "I HOPE TOO!" I didn't get a reply back from you on Monday and today I wish that I would have known that you were not well. I wish there was something that I could have done to help. We were just remembering our days together as children. You told me that you wished that you could find the peace that I have been able to find while living in Nigeria. But, at least now you will most certainly find inner peace with God in Heaven where there is no pain. You will be missed by so many. If my mother was still alive today, she would have been shocked to hear of your death. I know she loved you so much. My heart goes out to your brother and your father and the rest. I send my condolences and prayers during such a difficult time. May you rest in perfect peace!
