(Ret.) Chief Master Sargeant Silas Benjamin LeGrow, 90, of Cabot, AR, passed away January 15, 2013. He was born August 12, 1922, in Bauline, Newfoundland, to the late Benjamin LeGrow and Mary Whalen LeGrow. He was a WWII Veteran and Bataan Death March and POW survivor in the Pacific Theatre. He is survived by his wife, Edna LeGrow of Cabot, AR and four sons; Kenny LeGrow and Howard LeGrow of Cabot, David LeGrow (Cathy) Of West Plains, MO, and Robert LeGrow (Kay) of Hernando, MS. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Brett LeGrow (Jennifer) of Southaven, MS, and Aaron LeGrow of San Diego, CA; two great-grandchildren, Brooke and Blake LeGrow of Southaven, MS; a sister, Anita Gaulton of Stephenville, Newfoundland, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Wayne LeGrow.
A special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Little Rock Veterans' Hospital.
Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 15, 2013 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd. North Little Rock, AR 72116 (501-791-7400). Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery.

I was preparing my sermon when Silas came to mind, so I thought I would look him up on the Internet -- I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing, but rejoice that he is now with the Savior. As a pastor and military chaplain I've heard thousands of stories. Silas has the distinction in my heart of being one of only a handful that have brought a tear to my eye. He will be missed. Dear Family, we are sadden by the passing of a very special fried we knew and admired for many years at the Little Rock AFB Chapel. Now he joins the legions of troops that served with him in the war and those lonely and iserable moments as a POW...Though he lived a long time, I was hoping to once more see him, but that didn't happen. God Bless you all for your loss and give you peace...he is a warrior Angel to be sure.
