I was preparing my sermon when Silas came to mind, so I thought I would look him up on the Internet -- I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing, but rejoice that he is now with the Savior. As a pastor and military chaplain I've heard thousands of stories. Silas has the distinction in my heart of being one of only a handful that have brought a tear to my eye. He will be missed. God bless.

Dear Family, we are sadden by the passing of a very special fried we knew and admired for many years at the Little Rock AFB Chapel. Now he joins the legions of troops that served with him in the war and those lonely and iserable moments as a POW...Though he lived a long time, I was hoping to once more see him, but that didn't happen. God Bless you all for your loss and give you peace...he is a warrior Angel to be sure.
