Francis A. (Pete) Russ, age 87, of Benton, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 at his home. He was born in Little Rock on February 4, 1925.
Mr. Russ served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. His ship, the USS Goss, was a member of the fleet in Tokyo Bay when Japan surrendered to Gen. McArthur. He retired from the Sheet Metal Shop at Alcoa after thirty years of service and was a long time member of Geyer Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel (Kriegbaum) Russ, and daughter, Charliss Russ.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2013 in the Gazebo at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander officiated by Rev. John Perkins.
Funeral arrangements are by Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047).

Charliss and Ms. Hazel,
It saddens me to have learned of Mr. Pete’s departure. I know what a good and kind man he was to have had the love and support of two such wonderful people as you both. Cherish your memories of him and keep them close to comfort you at this time and always. My heart goes out to you both and we will remember you in our thoughts and prayers.
