Emma Jean Troutt, 85, of Benton departed this life on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House in Bryant. She was born on October 29, 1926 and grew up in Mineral Springs. Upon graduating high school she was employed by Southwestern Bell as a switchboard operator and served on the staff of several state hospitals working with the mentally impaired. She was an avid crochetor of afghans, sweaters, and beautiful dolls. Jean's life revolved around her family as she so generously gave of herself in providing long term care to her husbands and daughter. Jean was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class.
Aunt Jean, as she was affectionately called by her many nieces and nephews was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Bruce and Bessie Jean Crooks Hodge; her husbands, David J. Gibson, and John Troutt; her daughters, Betty (infant) and Jeanie Gibson, and her sisters, Mable Martindale, Betty Keys, and Edwina Keys.
She is survived by one sister, Nancy Hodge Johnson Simpson, one brother, James (Buzzy) Hodge, both of Benton and one brother-in-law, Joe Harrell Keys of Texarkana, AR.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2012 in the chapel of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047) with interment following at Mt. Harmony Cemetery in Haskell.
General visitation will be Thursday from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
The family would like to thank the staff at Arkansas Health Center and Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House for the outstanding care and compassion shown to her over the years and final days.
