Bernice Yeargain Looney, age 78, of Paragould passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born June 30, 1933 to Herschel and Della McFarland Yeargain. Bernice taught special education for 38 years, teaching at Osceola High School for most of her career, during which time she was awarded the Channel 8 Golden Ruler. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and loved to travel.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James C. Looney; and two sisters, Patsy Hufford and Pauline Martin.
Survivors include her son, James M. (Robin) Looney of Searcy; two grandchildren, Ruth Ann Looney of Little Rock and James Robert Looney of Ft. Hood, TX; two brothers, Jessie Yeargain of Des Moines, NM and Azro Yeargain of Palm Coast, FL; a sister, Vanetta Bishop of Paragould; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday at the Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Friday at the funeral home. Interment will begin at 3 pm at the Cardwell Cemetery in Cardwell, MO.
