Gladys Helen Beard Duncan Lamkins

Gladys Helen Beard Duncan Lamkins, age 99, of Little Rock, Arkansas died June 15, 2012. She was born on March 4, 1913, at Chilton, Texas, the daughter of Charley Floyd Beard and Florence Myrtle Tull Beard. On August 29, 1937 she married Richard Wright Duncan, to whom she was married for 61 years, until his death on August 28, 1998. She is also preceded in death by her second husband, Burl Lamkins; two brothers, Griffin Beard and Garland Beard; one grandson, James Michael Moore; and one sister-in-law, Madelyn Morgan Beard.

She was a member of Baseline Missionary Baptist Church for 53 years. Along with her first husband, Richard, she co-owned and operated the Duncan & Beard General Store in Hensley, Arkansas.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard Wayne and Elcy Duncan of North Little Rock; and Charley and Cheryl Duncan of Memphis, Tennessee; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Joyce and Jim Moore of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Judene and Roy Juch of Houston, Texas; and Rebecca and Dale Faulkner of Atlanta, Georgia; 13 grandchildren, Ray Duncan and wife, Mireya; Matthew Duncan and wife, Jessica; Lee Duncan and wife, Elizabeth; Stephanie Moore; Steven Moore and wife, Jennifer; Deborah Carmen Gore and husband, Larry; Lisa Breen and husband, Bryan; Fred Juch and wife, Martha; Richard Faulkner and wife, Phyllis; and Robert Faulkner and wife, Kristy; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Myrtle Beard of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will held 2:00 p.m., June 18, 2012, Monday at Baseline Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. R.W. Keesee officiating.

Interment will be in Orion Cemetery, next to her husband, Richard, under the direction of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211 (501) 224-8300.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday evening, at the funeral home.
