Kaye Rogers-Smith, age 71, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. Kaye was born January 27, 1941, at Compton, Arkansas, the daughter of Verlon and Ola (Mathis) Spencer. Kaye lived most of her life in Harrison, Arkansas. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Floyd Rogers and Lindy Smith; her brothers-in-law, Gene Bowen and Lester Wyatt; as well as one nephew, Wayne Wyatt.
Kaye was a true believer and child of God who enjoyed life, loved to be around people and as many would say “She’s a hoot!” She battled lung cancer for the past eighteen months and had been planning her funeral for the past couple of months as she was looking forward to the day she would meet her Lord. One day she asked her daughter Tina, “Do you think God will let me come down and watch my funeral?” Kaye was married to Floyd Rogers for 48 years before his death and later married Lindy Smith who passed away last year after 5 years of marriage. She loved and was loved by her family and adored her only grandchild and precious angel Amy.
Kaye is survived by her son, Rustin Rogers, of New York; her daughter, Tina Logsdon and husband Jim of Springdale, Arkansas; her granddaughter and precious angel, Amy Nicole Logsdon, of Springdale; and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Jemmie & Charles Bowen of Lowell, Arkansas, Jo Ann & Clarence Patton of Springdale, Arkansas, Jackie Bowen of Lowell, Arkansas and Kathy Troy Cline of Kingston, Arkansas.
Pallbearers were Jr. Keys, Eugene Qualls, Joe Nowlin, Steve Clarkson, Jackie Rogers, Todd Rogers, Teddy Hank Rogers, Fred Rogers and J.G. Williams.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Patrick Travis, Dr. Robert Langston, Bobby Bishop, Harry Sternn, “Freto” Joe Jones, Donald Middleton, Jeff Hudson, Brock Tabor, Curt Ryan, Mike Heavener, Charles Bowen, Clarence Patton, Randy Raney, Jim Hayes, Barbara Keys, Shirley Bell, Peggy Bell, Bobbie Marshall, Carol Gandy, Sue Stewart, Jody Dickerson, Leta Price and Ron Youngblood.
Funeral service was Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison, with pastors Billy Rogers and Kevin Rogers officiating.
Visitation was Friday, May 25, 2012, also at Roller-Christeson.
Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery following the service.
