James Roy Arnold
James Roy Arnold, 69, of Stilwell, Oklahoma, died Monday, May 21 (2012), at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The son of James Alva and Opal Agnes (Frederick) Arnold, he was born April 8, 1943, at Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marsha Arnold; and his brothers-in-law, James E. Sheppard and C.H. Riddle.
Jim was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Stilwell, Oklahoma for the past two years. He had been a previous resident of Richardson, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was aboard the first tour of the carrier USS Kitty Hawk. He was a long haul truck driver with his faithful road companion dog, Little Bit. In his free time, Jim enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, sewing, cross-stitch, quilting and latch hook, amongst other things.
Jim is survived by his son, James Douglas Arnold, of Las Vegas, Nevada; his daughter, June DeLee Arnold, of Las Vegas, Nevada; his sisters, Ann (Larry) Wilkinson of Harrison, Linda Riddle of Peel, Peggy Sheppard of Harrison, LaVerne (Ron) Daniels of Harrison, Bobbie (Roger) Hampton, of Pelsor and Shirley (Don) Atkins of Yellville; his brother, Larry (Barbara) Arnold, of Dover; two granddaughters, Amber and Alexis Sytien; an uncle, Arville Arnold; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Milam Cemetery prior to service.
Graveside service was Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Milam Cemetery, with Brother Stan Taylor officiating.
Pallbearers were Jim's sisters.
Honorary pallbearer was Jim's brother, Larry Arnold.
