Virginia Sue Light Steinbeck
July 23, 1917 - May 21, 2012

Virginia Sue Light Steinbeck, 94, of West Helena, Arkansas passed from this life on May 21, 2012. Mrs. Steinbeck was born July 23, 1917, in Moro, Arkansas to the late Frank and Sophie Watson Light.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, Jewell Jefferson Steinbeck; and a son, Michael J. Steinbeck.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Barry (David) of Wynne, Arkansas; her son, Jewell F. Steinbeck (Nancy) of Conway, Arkansas; her daughter, Anna Mae Cooke (Steve) of Barton, Arkansas; her sister, Ruby Dale Smallman of Malone, New York; her brother, Watson Light (Frances) of West Helena, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Mike Barry, Jeff Steinbeck, Russ Barry, Stephenie Cooke, Jennifer Victory and Karen Schwantz; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Virginia retired from working at the Bobbie Brooks factory and was a member of the West Helena United Methodist Church. Known affectionately as “Ninnie,” she was an avid reader and bird watcher, loved to play games, and enjoyed finger work. She loved the changing of the leaves in the fall and watching her beautiful flowers bloom in the spring.

A graveside service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26th, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Park, Highway 49, Barton, Arkansas. Dan Baw and Marty Baw will officiate .Visitation will follow immediately at the home of Steve & Anna Mae Cooke.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and nephews.
