Nettie Ramsey, 91, of Batesville, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at her home. Born Wednesday, September 8, 1920 in the Ruddell Hill Community, she was the daughter of Will Crawford and Jessie (Stone) Crawford. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was also a member of the CWR District Association where she served as devotion leader, a member of the Eastern Star, and the American Legion Post #409. A strong-willed person, she was the family leader. She enjoyed traveling and was always ready to go. She enjoyed visiting with and having family gatherings. She liked to work in her flower garden and was a very good cook. Her specialties were beans & potatoes and dressing. Survivors include her son, Carlos Ramsey of Batesville; a daughter, Willie Strong also of Batesville; eight grandchildren: Collett Ramsey, Margarite Ramsey, Jessica Davis, Arnetta DeSquare, Harvey DeSquare III, Serena DeSquare, Demetrise DeSquare, and Kyna DeSquare; fourteen great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie Ramsey; one daughter, Serene DeSquare; one grandchild: Carlos Ramsey, Jr.; two brothers: T. C. Crawford and Wesley Crawford; and two sisters: Walsie Earls and Ruby Crawford. Pallbearers will be Ralph Grant, Ben Earls, Jr., Cecil Sherrill, Bryson Neely, Ricoh Neely, and Tommy Harper, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are David Blair, Bob Stroud, James Street, Dr. Bill Waldrip, Bill Coop, and Mickey Powell. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Dr. Leon Massey and Louis Justice officiating. Burial will be at Ruddell Hill Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
