Ula Jean (Turner) Griffin, age 73, of the Shaw Community, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. She was born April 20, 1938 in England, Arkansas to the late T.J. and Verda Ann Turner. She was a homemaker and loved to hunt and raise chickens. She was of Missionary Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Walter Wayne Griffin; two grandsons, Chris Lewis and Walter Ammons; two sisters, Irma Gregg and Vetola Stergeon, and four brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Walter Griffin; eleven children, Joyce Kyle (Rudy), Brenda Prichard (James), Ricky Griffin (Kathleen); Marilyn Griffin, Terry Griffin (Pat), Sam Griffin (Misty), Nancy Lewis (Roy), Glenda Gilbert (Terry), Vivian Griffin, Janice Shelton (Frank), and Richard Carter (Marilyn); seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, and one sister, Norma Brazier.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 7, 2012 in the chapel of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047) with Bro. Donny Haynes officiating with interment to follow at Mt. Harmony Cemetery in Haskell. Serving as pallbearers will be William Ammons, Sammy Griffin, Joshua Griffin, Timmy Kyle, Shane Hicks, Nathan Griffin, Ray Shelton, and Glenn Gregg. Honorary pallbearers are Jamie Prichard and Jaret Griffin.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday, April 6, 2012 at the funeral home.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the 2nd floor staff at Arkansas Heart Hospital for showing such loving care and compassion to Mrs. Griffin during her illness.
