Mrs. Winnie Lou was such a nice lady. She wore that beautiful smile, just like in the picture, every time I ever talked to her. When my son, Brett, died she brought a pineapple upside down cake to my home in Wilson. It was the only thing I could manage to eat for several days. Heaven has another angel.

I think of Ms. Winnie Lou so often and how she wanted you and I, Mary Lou, to get together as a pair of ASU class-mates! She was always doing and baking something for me and I, also, think of the great food she always brought to church pot-lucks! Each church has good cooks and good people but I was certainly more than happy to be her pastor for a time. She was such a sweet person who wanted to do all she could for others. She was so fond and supported of the church (and me while I was there). She and I spoke often of our families and our parents, I had loss my parents recently--6 months before I moved to Wilson and she was of great comfort to me. I think of her so often--I know that it will take a long time before you get over the little daily things you are missing. But, somethings you never get over or work your way through. Some things, even after all this time I will think, "I need to tell Mother about this or that!". I know that the memory of her smile and wonderful attitude will help you get through the hard times and feeling of loss. It is so thankful that your faith and trust in God will do you well during this time and in the future.
In Christian love, Charlotte (Bennett Staggs)

Billy Wayne and Mary Lou.......I am so sorry for your loss! Your mom and my mom were such good friends for DECADES! I'll always remember those chocolate chip cookies she sent in a box for Billy Wayne to share on school bus trips! And, I got her recipe several years ago for oatmeal cookies that I put fresh cranberries in at Christmas time!

I know you all have wonderful memories but it's NEVER easy to give up a loved one, no matter the circumstances!

Dear Bill, Mary Lou and families, I was sadened to hear about your Mom's death. I can still see her smile and her big dimples. She was always such a special person and I know she will be greatly missed. Just remember the happy and fun times with her and know that someday you will see her again.
I am sure that she and my Mom are having a good visit and reliving the "good ole days" in Wilson. Even though I haven't seen your Mom in years, I do have fond memories of her. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. May God hold you in His arms of love and comfort you.during this difficult time. With love to all, Donna

You are in my thoughts today as you say goodbye to your Mother. I have so many memories of your family there on Adams street. My mother-in-law Alma Harnden thought so much of Winnie and praised her work in the post office. She was truly a wonderful person ...so dignified and such a blessing to all. Love to all your family.

Dear Mary Lou and Bill and families, I am just heartsick that I can't be at the funeral. Your mother and daddy were two of the truly good people in this world, and I was so blessed to have known them and to have them as role models when I was growing up. I will always remember their kindness to mother and appreciate their wonderful, loving spirit.

Please know that we are thinking of you and praying that you will know peace and that God will cover you with His blanket of grace and strength.

Love to you both, Carolyn and Doug

PS: The rest of my life I will never eat fried chicken that I don't think of the wonderful chicken in the middle of her kitchen in Wilson.

Let's don't be strangers......

We had the priviledge of living beside Mrs. Wiley for 18 yrs. She was a dear dear friend. She helped "spoil" our son and on every one of our birthdays she would make a strawberry cake, and about once a month she would use the excuse of baking too much and thought that Holden would like some cake( the funny thing was it was always a whole cake). We were so blessed to have had her in our lives for so long. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives she touched. Your family are in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless You All.

Mrs. Wiley was a friend to everyone she met...She and Mr. Wiley, shared alot of good times with my family and was there also during sicknesses and deaths ...If you were a little girl, she was someone you wanted to grow up to be just like.... May God Bless you in the days and weeks to come. Sending you my deepest sympathies and love...
