Her other important affiliations included the League of Women Voters and the Faulkner County Cooperative Extension Service.
A service will be held at Hendrix College for Carolyn Hawes on Tuesday, May 10 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations in her name be given to Hendrix College.

Dear Bill and Clem, I was shocked to learn recently that Carolyn died in May. I would have attended the service if I had known. Please accept my deepest sympathy. She was such a lovely woman. I know you miss her terribly. Know that I am thinking of you at thsi sad time. Bill, you will always hold a special place in my heart for being my wonderful advisor and teacher at Hendrix. With Love.
Once again I am sad that we are all so far away from one another when, at times like this, when we should be together. I have fond memories of my handsome older cousin who married a beautiful young woman.....59 years ago! May the memories of your sweet life together bring you peace. I will be thinking of you.
love and prayers to Carolyn's family who I've known all my life
as Holly and I grew up together in the same church family
and still remain very close despite the distance in miles between our homes....
I want to express my appreciation for your and Bill's wonderful hopitallity last summer during my family's visit with you in Conway. Your sense of humor and warm welcoming nature made us feel right at home.
You will be sincerely missed by everyone that knew you.

Bill & Clem my heart is heavy for you. Carolyn was my right hand for so many years. When she went to care for her mother all the patients would ask where the "nice lady was that rides the bicycle". She always had good thoughts and deeds. She was a loving care giver to ageing parents. Her love of her Bill & her Clem was always apparent Tom was her walking buddy. I like to think she was my friend too. ><>
Carolyn was like a mother to me during the four years I spent at Hendrix college in Conway beginning in 1969 . In the years that followed our friendship grew and continued to this day. She was a great wife to Bill and a loving Mother to Clem. I will miss her for as long as I live.
