To the family of Ola:
I knew Ola from her years of friendship with my Mother, Georgia Heard, and the fact that she lived out near Etowah before moving to Osceola. I was priviledged to eat parts of several of her cocoanut "mile high" cakes. She would bake one for my Dad on his birthday some years. Cocoanut was his favorite. They were delicious. Even after my Mother was gone, I talked with Ola on the phone, but it has been some time since we talked. She was such a kind lady. She even told me how to cook the cake, but I don't know if I wrote it down or not. I live in Marion, but still own my Mom and Dad's home in Etowah. We go there often. I know you all will miss her, but you were blessed that she lived so long. I did not know of her death until someone shared the Osceola Times with me. I just want you to know she was a good person and kind to all and I share in your sorrow of her on going. She lived a long life and deserves the rest the Lord has for her.

Sincerely,
Christine Heard Shoemake
