Bessie Copeland, 106, of Batesville, Arkansas died Friday at her home. She was born in Mobley, AR in 1904 to William Edgar Pinkston and Lorena Peacock Pinkston. Bessie moved to Batesville when she was in her early thirties where she worked at the court house on Main Street. She married C. E. (Buddy) Copeland when she was 36 years old and became a homemaker where she enjoyed her special talents as an artist and seamstress. She was a long time faithful member of Harrison Street Church of Christ. She cherished the Sundays she was able to go to Sunday school and church and all the friends she made through the years. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Olaf Pinkston (Orilla) of Cave City, her step-mother, Jacqueline, and stepbrothers, John Pinkston and Bill Pinkston. She was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Marie Kirby (John) and step granddaughter, Nancy Reid of Texas. Bessie is survived by a step granddaughter, Katie Kirby from Dallas, Texas and nieces, Janna Freeman of Cave City, Norma Wooldridge of Little Rock, Loreta Sites (Carroll) of Higden, and nephew, Billy Bob Pinkston (Billie Jean) of Cave City. She is also survived by a host of great nephews and nieces. Family and friends are invited to gather at Harrison Street Church of Christ on Tuesday, April 19, at 9:30 a.m. for visitation and viewing; and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Oaklawn Cemetery will follow. Bessie’s service will be officiated by Carroll Sites of Higdon and Tom German of Batesville, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Gayle Collier, Fred Arnold, Mitch Williams, Dick Milligan, James Simmons, and Elbert Shirley.
