Margaret, Bryan, Ann, Susan, and Mary Lynn were the absolute best neighbors anyone could have growing up as a child. Especially for the forturnate kids in the neighborhood, like me, who were in and out of their house hundreds of times. I remember just how kind Margaret was to me as a child. I used to go in her bedroom and look at her small, lovely shoes, her jewelry and her clothes. She seemed like a beautiful queen to me. Her smile and laugh always made me feel good inside. When I think of her now, I feel the same way. As a child, I also felt her strength and her faith which were just a natural part of her personality. I will never forget the positive imput she had in my growing up years. I was so blessed to have Margaret as a sweet neighbor who was such a wonderful role model to me as I was in the process of becoming a woman myself. Thank you Margaret!

When I was growing up in the 1950’s across Wade Street from the Joyce family, Margaret Joyce seemed to me much like another mother. The first encounter I had with her was when she administered the ether for an emergency appendectomy at the Saltzman Clinic in 1954. Thereafter I regularly encountered her as I borrowed her daughters for various purposes or sneaked into the house to look at husband Brian Joyce’s Esquire magazines. Two impressions linger: One is unfailing humor. She loved kids, and being one, she loved me. The other was remarkable, level-headed good sense that contributed much to her skill in nursing. I miss her, and as I too grow older, I miss the sense of security that mothers like Margaret created for children, both their own and the interlopers like myself.

Dear family,
My condolences in the death of Mrs. Joyce. I remember her from her school nursing days. I loved the way she wore her nursing uniform so proudly. She, along with some other folks, helped me to decide that nursing was the career I wanted to follow. May the peace of Christ comfort and soothe you. Jan Fletcher

Sincere Sympathy on your loss. Mrs. Joyce was nurse at Saltzmans Hospital, when my first child was born, in 1950.. I remember her, as a very kind and good Nurse. In later years, my husband worked for U. S.. Corp. of Engineers, and Mrs. Joyce's husband, Bryan, was his Supervisor. He too, was a fine Man. May your good memories comfort you. Sincerely, Mrs. J. W. Mrs. Joyce, Nelson-Wilks School Nurse, is one of my earliest childhood memories that have lasted over 40 years of my life. As our school nurse she was very sweet, always wore starched white uniforms and a beautiful smile. You knew when you walked into her office feeling sick.. that all would be well..and you would probably live to the end of the school day... = )

Praying comfort and peace to the family of this wonderful woman.
