Walsie Olena Smith age 92 passed away April 07, 2009 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas. She was born the youngest of 5 children on December 27, 1916 to William Washington ''Wash'' and Sophronia Almedia ''Meadie'' (Martin) Hankins in Witts Springs, Arkansas. Her siblings were; Hester Sullins, Bettie Ferguson, Hettie Blair and Abe Hankins.
Walsie was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a member of the Grandview Church of Christ. She loved quilting, gardening, growing flowers and spent her life in the Ozarks raising kids and animals. Recently she was a resident of Highland Court Nursing Home. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Walsie is preceded in death by her husband Jimmie of 63 years, her parents, three sisters and one brother. She is survived by three daughters; Bonnie Freeman of Dover, Arkansas, Shirley Ragland of Marshall, Arkansas and Linda Horton of Harrison, Arkansas, six grandchildren; Carolyn LaRue, Roger Freeman, Randel Freeman, Denna Riggins, Travis Ragland and John Horton, nineteen great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 08, 2009 from 6-8 P.M. at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas.
Services will be Thursday, April 09, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Roller-Coffman Chapel with Fred Whitelaw and Donald Patterson officiating. Pallbearers will be Alan Riggins, Travis Ragland, Roger Freeman, Randel Freeman, Kenneth Blair and Guy Dale Blair. Honorary Pallbearers include the staff of Highland Court Nursing Home.
Burial will be in the Witts Springs Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Coffman Funeral Home.

She was a very nice lady and she will be missed tremendously. She is now resting in the arms and love of her Heavenly Father.
Aunt Walsie was such a sweet lady. She made many lasting impressions that will never be forgotten. Just remember that she is in a much better place now.

Aunt Walsie was truly a special and wonderful person. The gift of her life will continue to have ripples through our own lives in beautiful memories. We will always love her and miss her until we meet again.
