Anna Jean Payne
November 14, 1936 - April 27, 2008

Anna Jean Jones Abshier-Payne of Clinton, AR walked through Heaven’s gates on April 27th, 2008.

She was born in Scotland, AR on November 14, 1936, to Lonnie and Lona Love-Jones, where she attended and graduated from Scotland High School in 1955.

Jean resided in LaPorte, IN for fifteen years, where she raised her family and was proud to be a working mother. She returned to Clinton in 1970, where she owned and operated the City Café. During the following years, she was a homemaker and enjoyed working with the participants at the Van Buren County Senior Citizens Center.

Prior to her decline in health, Jean was an active member of the Bee Branch Baptist Church, where she dedicated much of her time and energy to the WMU organization.

Jean is remembered and loved by her devoted husband, Milburn G. Payne, one daughter, Ulann Riley-Gibbs and husband, Ken; One son, Malcolm Cambron and wife, Melissa. She was blessed with three grandchildren, James “Devlin” Riley of Evansville, WY, Meagan “Dani” Cambron of Clinton, and Malcolm “Malcy” Cambron, also of Clinton; One sister, Joy Lemings and husband, Virgil of Clinton; Three nieces, and six nephews. She has numerous family members and friends throughout the community.

Jean has gone to join her family members whom she loved and missed. Meeting her in the garden of life will be her parents, Lonnie and Lona Love-Jones, a son, Rodney Cambron, a husband, Joel Abshier, three brothers and three sisters.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton with visitation on Tuesday, April 29, from 6 to 8 pm and subsequent memorial services on Wednesday, April 30, at 10:00a.m. Internment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Scotland.
