July 19, 1989 - January 25, 2008

Taylor Kyle Roark, age 18, of Sherwood, passed away Friday, January 25, 2008 as a result of a traffic accident. He was born July 19, 1989, in Little Rock. Taylor graduated in 2007, as an Honor Graduate and class president from Sylvan Hills High School. He was currently attending Henderson State University on a baseball scholarship. Taylor was a member of Faith Baptist Church of North Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Betty Burroughs of North Little Rock.

He is survived by his parents, Lisa and Kelly Roark, of Sherwood; a sister, Brandy Dozier; paternal grandparents, John and Jerry Roark of Lonoke; uncles, Rodney Roark, Jamey Roark, Tracy Roark, Chancey Roark and Jeremy Roark; an aunt, Becky Roark.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Faith Baptist Church, 109 Tanglewood Dr., in North Little Rock. Visitation will be held 6:00 -8:00 Monday, January 28, 2008, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home.

Lisa,
This is Shelly, Tyler Thomason's mom. We haven't spoken in so long. I remember Taylor so well....as you and I played softball for Faith Baptist, Taylor and Tyler would be there watching, well I say watching. I remember Taylor running around, you stopping to discuss why he couldnt have a piece of gum, or for him to sit down. You would just look at me like you were so wore out from running around after him, and trying to keep your mind on the game. I would laugh a little bit inside, because he was so cute! I remember his little glasses, and that cute little face that grew into such a handsome young man's face. Ive so offened wanted to tell you how agonizing it was for me to hear the news. Tyler was the first one to call me when the accident occured. I sat there, and just sat there I couldnt and cant even imagine how you guys must feel. I couldnt even imagine putting myself in your place. I want you to know I think of you and the memory of Taylor so much more than you will ever know. Tyler and I talk about Taylor often. i wanted to be there for you at that time, but because of the distance we had, I wasnt just quite sure how I could do that. I often prayed for you and your family, and still do. I wanted to write to let you know that if you need anything or just want to get together to talk, I would love to. In loving memory of Taylor,
Shelly Thomason-Terry

Family Roark

Hi my name is Caridad and I came across the obituary of your son. It is really heartbreaking when someone so young dies. It seems so unfair that death should have the power to take away someone you love. And when it happens, the thought of never again being able to talk to, laugh with, or hold your loved one can be most difficult to bear.

My eldest cousin died when he was just 18. Although I was a child when he died, I always wondered what he would be like today. I’d like to share with you something that I found very comforting. Although we are told that are beloved ones go to heaven when they die. That pain is not necessarily erased by being told that.

The Bible, however, holds out a much different hope. The Scriptures indicate that it is possible to be reunited with your dead loved one in the near future, not in an unknown heaven but right here on earth under peaceful, righteous conditions. And at that time humans will have the prospect of enjoying perfect health, and they will never have to die again. (John 5:21, 28, 29) and Psalm 37:29 and Matthew 5:5.).

My deepest Condolences

Kelly & Lisa....Wanted to let you guys know that I’m thinking of you two and my prayers continue. You two are such amazing people that it’s no wonder Taylor turned out to be loved by so many. What fond memories we have of Taylor that we all hold on to and one day, we will see Taylor and our loved ones again and when we do, what a celebration that will be knowing that we are reunited and will never have to say good-bye again! Take care guys and know that your friends are still thinking and praying for you two and your family.

Mr. and Mrs. Roark. I've never met either of you, and I never met Taylor, but, as a fan of the Bears, I have watched him play hundreds of football and baseball games over the years. All I know is what I've seen, and I saw a wonderful, competitive athlete who always left it all on the field. He always represented Sylvan Hills High School in a most positive way. From everything I've heard about him, he must have been a wonderful young man to know. I wish I had known him personally. God Bless.

Taylor was a great guy and a wonderful ball player. I wish there were words that would ease your pain but I know nothing will fill the hole left by his death. I really do know how difficult the coming weeks and months will be. If you don't remember, my son, Jamie [Nora's brother and James' uncle], died in a wreck on the freeway when he was 18. Mrs. Lisa and Mr. Kelly. I know it has been several years now, but I still remember our trip to St.Louis and Taylor's first Cardinal game. We all had a blast and I'm so glad yall came with us. I'm honestly blessed to have talked to Taylor about 2 months ago on the internet. We lost touch after the Indians, but it was really good catching up with him and talking about old times. I have vivid memories of Taylor stroking that ball all over Billy Mitchell field. At first he was shy and distant, but after he warmed up, man he would make us laugh so hard. He was an awesome guy and I'm blessed to have known him and have him as a friend. I like to think that Jesus has got Taylor batting in the 4 hole up there in heaven to knock in a few runs. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family. You raised an amazing son and he will be missed.

It meant so much this year to see him still supporting "his" team at the football games. (Of course, we know he was there for Hannah, but still). He was so much too so many. I'm sure in the next few weeks, you will realize even more what an impact he really made on those that had the joy of knowing him. From that precious little boy in kindergarten, to the man that he had become. You have every reason to be proud. Tracy and Family: We want to express our deepest sympathy for your loss of your loved one. We are praying for you and your family members to receive peace, comfort and healing at this difficult time. [Epistle written by Paul] I Thessalonians 4: 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent [precede] them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ [believers]shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words. Kelly and Lisa. As Taylor's parents you can be proud of the young man he had become. It's a great accomplisment as parents to raise a son who makes you proud. At this time Your hearts are broken. The Bible assures us "Jehovah is near to the broken at heart; and those who are crushed in sprit he saves". Jehovah, as the hearer of prayers, can equip you with "power beyond what is normal" so you can go from day to day. I look forward to seeing Taylor again in Paradise. Jehovah assures us "He is opening his hand and satisfying the desire of every lliving thing" (Ps. 145:16). No desire is greater than the one to see our loved ones again. I did not know your precious one. My Mother lives south of the HSU ballfield, and there has been many days that we could hear the bats pinging. I pray that you will find comfort in the knowledge of knowing your loved one is in a much better place. May God be with you through this time.

Mr. and Mrs. Roark: I am truly sorry for your loss. I can only imagine your pain. Taylor was such an exceptional young man. He was one of the kind of kid that keeps me in coaching. Always in a good mood with a smile on his face, willing to anything and everything to help. Something very important to me that I will always remember about Taylor is how nice he was to my son and how much he always took the time to "play around" with Reid. Reid and I both looked up to him a great dea.

Taylor will be be missed and this accident has made us all realize how short life is. Taylor was and always be a outdtanding young man. My God comfort each of you in knowing Taylor is in Heaven looking down on us today. In his field of dreams that was made possible by Lisa and Kelly. Great kids comes from great parents. Never loose hope. Taylor is with us just in a different place. God bless each of you.

Lisa and Kelly, My son Zach played baseball back in 2000 with Taylor when they played on the Central Arkansas Indians together. We even took the boys that summer to see the Cardinals play in St Louis. Taylor was a good kid and great ballplayer. This is a tragic loss and I want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family.
