Velta Lea Farmer, age 87, of Ione, Arkansas passed away Monday, January 14, 2008 at Sparks Regional Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1920 in Barber, Arkansas to Henry and Lizzie Boss. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church, a homemaker and loved to write. Velta was preceded in death by her parents; infant siblings Fern, Henry and Gussie; and son-in-law, Jay Channell.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2008, officiated by Bro. Luther McClure, at Victory Baptist Church in Booneville with burial at French Prairie Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Booneville.

She is survived by her husband, Virgil Farmer of Ione; three daughters, Linda Channell of Booneville, Barbara and husband Thomas Harger of Havana, Karen and husband David Walker of Texarkana; a son, Aaron and wife Terrie Farmer of Ione; six granddaughters, Trisha Harvey, Hanna Harger, Kimberly Goff, Kelly Wingard, Erin Bearden, Rachael Birmingham; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Winnie Green of Magazine and a brother, Dale Boss of Ione.

Pallbearers will be Richard Myers, Raymond McGrath, James Stone, Claude Watson, Greg Kennedy and Tim Wingard.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the funeral home.
