December 14, 1916 - August 14, 2018

Beatrice (Tomlin) Dowell, 101, of Batesville, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at home.

She was born on December 14, 1916 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Lucian and Pearl (Franks) Tomlin. She was a member of Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church of Bethesda. She was retired from Marshall's Dry Goods and a long-time member of the Bethesda Quilter's Club. She enjoyed many hours working with her flowers, sewing, and reading. People were her true passion both family and friends.

Bea Dowell, mother, ma, sister, aunt and friend, a woman who in her simplicity seemed unaware of her influence in our lives. Bea did not leave us an inheritance of worldly value. She left us the good things of life that cannot be measured: a knowledge of truth, honor, obedience to God and the experience of unconditional love, this love is our inheritance.

She is survived by two sons, Harry Dowell and Gary (Eva) Dowell both of Batesville; one daughter, Glenna Reschke of Amity; two sisters, Molly Leneaux of Nevada and Dutsy McCurdy of Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren, Tiny (LaDonna) Dowell, Brad Dowell, Johnny Hugh Dowell, Angel (Galvin) Bufford, Amy (Shawn) O'Brien, Tommy Lee Dowell, Dana (Jordan) Sullivan, Michael Reschke, Kristal Reschke, Gary Wayne (Erika) Dowell, and Stacey (Lonnie) Clark; many beloved great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Dowell; four sisters, Mabel, Jayne, Faye and Anita; three brothers, Lyle, Woodrow, and Jerry; three sons, Charles Ray Dowell, Hugh Dowell, and Tommy Dowell; three granddaughters, Karen Dowell, Deanna Dowell, and Mary Ann Mickalic.

Pallbearers are Jordan Sullivan, Shawn O'Brien, Lonnie Clark, Galvin Bufford, Clarence Lawrence, Jeff Townsend, Scott Vest, and Mark Jeffery. Honorary pallbearers will be Sophia and Matt as well as the rest of her Approve Home Health Care Team, Dr. J.D. Allen and Staff, Dr. Homer Brooks and Nurse Rhonda, Danny Dowell, Dallas Rollins, Delton Rollins, and Jim Rollins.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Campground Cemetery in Bethesda under the direction of Roller-Crouch of Batesville with Brother Chuck Miller and Brother Jonathan Baxter officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. '''' 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the funeral home.

I wish I could have been there to offer my own condolences and to share in remembering Aunt Bea. She was such a welcoming, loving person that visiting her always was a great joy. She radiated her love of family and friends, and the love of God. I know she is basking in God's love now.

I am one of Dutsy's daughters. My family made it to one of the reunions in Arkansas. My son was in 6th grade. He still raves about Aunt Bea's Pear preserves and homemade biscuits. We got to spend a lot of time with Aunt Bea that visit. I am so glad we have that memory.

We send our love to Aunt Bea's family. Her life was a beautiful example love, grace, compassion, peace and caring for any who came into her presence. I only got to be with her a few times in life but they are all wonderful memories that I cherish. One of the most memorable was getting to worship with her at her church.

Amen Aunt Bea, you are now living forever in the full glory of your Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

Ms. Bea was truly a precious little lady, I so loved her . I enjoyed getting to know her in our Sunday school class at Pilgrims Rest. She had such a great attitude and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved her family dearly - she made that known to anyone who knew her. So sorry for your loss. She will be deeply missed.
