Sammy ''Z'' Phillips, 76, of Batesville died Friday, February 10, 2017, in Searcy.

Born, January 13, 1941, in the Limedale community, he was the son of Clyde Phillips and Alma Lee (Dowell) Phillips.

Sammy was a veteran of the US Air Force. He worked as an auto parts salesman until his retirement. He loved his wife, Ruth, and was a wonderful caregiver. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and hunting. He was a member of 20th Street Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Phillips (Sheila) of Batesville and Steve Phillips (Pam) of Mena; six grandchildren, Taylor Phillips, Holden Phillips, Sheridan Phillips, Shelby Strain, Sydney Strain, and Sophia Strain; one great-grandchild, Penelope Rubio; one brother, Jeff Phillips of Russellville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruth Phillips; and brother, Gene Phillips.

There will be a funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel with Jason Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Egner Cemetery at Salado.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Phillips, Holden Phillips, Randy Coldwell, Colton Coldwell, Eric Anderson and Michael Dale. Honorary pallbearers are the nursing staff of Searcy Healthcare.

Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2017
