Bonnie Hulett Taylor

of Batesville, AR

November 8, 1925 - December 19, 2016

Bonnie Hulett Taylor, 91, went to be with Jesus Christ the Lord her Savior and her husband, Dr. Chaney Taylor, on December 19, 2016. She was born in the Flatwoods community of Sharp County to Hade and Missy Hulett on November 8, 1925, and attended school at Poughkeepsie and Ash Flat. Bonnie graduated from Arkansas State Teacher's College (now UCA) in 1948 with a B.S. degree in home economics, which served her well throughout her life as she loved cooking, sewing, making crafts and working on other creative projects.

She married the love of her life Chaney Taylor in 1945 after which he attended medical school. They shared a special love that endured throughout their lives. After her children were grown, she worked alongside Dr. Chaney at his office for 11 years, helping him care for and treat patients. Bonnie and Dr. Chaney owned a cabin at Greers Ferry Lake with her sisters, where many warm memories were made making and sharing meals, swimming and boating.

She became a member of P.E.O. Chapter Z Sisterhood in 1959 and a charter member of P.E.O. Chapter BQ in 1978. She served three terms as chapter president, and held most other officer positions as well. She was also a charter and life member of the Independence County Jr. Auxiliary.

She was active in her children's lives including volunteering with the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and PTA when they were growing up. She thoroughly loved having her family gather at her home for birthdays, holidays & other special occasions. Her passion was playing bridge and she was very skilled at the game, frequently being the winner. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Batesville for over 60 years.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Dr. Chaney Taylor; a great-grandson, Taylor McKeen Shelton; her parents; two sisters, Hazel Blue and Mazel Coggins of Searcy, AR; and a brother Jack Hulett of the Flatwoods community. She is survived by her four children: Stan (spouse: Lisa) Taylor, Becky (spouse: Dr. Bill) Shelton, Jan Taylor and Chaney (spouse: Leah) Taylor, Jr., eight grandchildren: Grady Foster, Ben Shelton, Dr. Wes Shelton, Elizabeth Fulton, Madison Taylor, Sophie Taylor, Ty Taylor & Chaney (Trey) Taylor III; and four great grandchildren: Liam Shelton, Thayer Shelton, Maya Fulton and Chaney Fulton.

A private graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 23, 2016, with a memorial service and visitation following at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Batesville.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 615 E. Main, Batesville, AR 72501 and/or the Taylor McKeen Shelton SUDC Foundation online at taylormckeen.com.

Dear Family,

Our hearts are saddened for your loss. Mrs. Bonnie was such a wonderful lady; so kind and sweet to everyone. She and Dr. Chaney were so loved by our family and so much a part of our lives growing up. They are together once again, and we smile at the memory of those two sweet and wonderful people. God bless you all.
