George Wendell ''G.W.'' Adkisson, age 66, of Batesville, died November 24, 2014 in the Little Rock VA Hospital.

Born July 28, 1948, at Lunenburg, Izard County, Arkansas, he was the son of Gilmore and Iva Richardson Adkisson, who preceded him in death.

He attended Mount Pleasant High School. An Army veteran, he served in Viet Nam in the 17th Artillery and was a member of the American Legion Post #114. He was an employee of Gen Corp of Batesville and was a Christian of the Baptist faith.

G.W. liked to hunt and fish and watch NASCAR. He was dependable and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy Hess Adkisson; two sons, Brett (Tina) Adkisson of Cherokee Village and Jermery Adkisson of Bryant, AR; five grandchildren, Joseph Adkisson, Kirsten Adkisson, Brittney Garner, Matthew Garner, and Anthony Garner, all of Cherokee Village; and one great-grandson, Hunter. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Gloria Jean Hess of the home; one sister, Inez Huckaba of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters-in law, Gloria Callahan and Trudy Rymer of St. Louis, Missouri; and four nieces, two nephews, two great-nephews, one great-niece, and two great-great-nephews.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Allen Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Landers officiating. Music will be by Robin Richardson.

Arrangements are by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

I am a distant cousin and I know G.W.'s sister, Inez, I want to extend my sincere sympathy and prayers for all the family, I pray god will give you the strength and guidance during this time of grief.
