Fred O. Ivy, 89, of Batesville, graduated to heaven on Friday, October 3, 2014. He was born January 9, 1925 in Marcella, AR to Rufus Neal Ivy and Annie Gray Ivy.

He served his country during World War II in the U. S. Army and came home as a decorated war veteran. He had a farm in Marcella, AR, on which he raised poultry and cattle along with serving as president and was on the board of the Stone County Farm Bureau and North Arkansas Farm Supply. He also worked as a bus driver for the Pleasant Grove School. He stayed active his whole life even when he had to use a walker the last couple of years of his life. He was a member of Reed's Chapel Christian Church, attended Parkview Baptist Church, plus enjoyed all the church services at Mountain Meadows Nursing Home, where he lived for the last year of his life.

He loved his family, his farm, and working to make a good life. Fred liked bowling, traveling, dancing, walking the land, and he loved going to church. He never met a stranger.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Cross and her husband, Terry, of Batesville; a son, Paul Ivy and his wife, Willie Faye, of Marcella; four grandchildren, Alan Wilson and his wife, Shai, of Conway, Scott Wilson of Newark, Daniel Ivy and his wife, Kristy, of Searcy, and Michelle Treat and her husband, Jason, of Marcella; four great-grandchildren, Corey Wilson and wife Tia of South Korea, Trevor Wilson of Conway, Michael Wilson of Newark, and Kade Ivy of Searcy. He is also survived by one brother, George Ivy and his wife Marilyn, of Marcella; a special friend, Inez Carruthers of Melbourne; three nephews and a host of friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jimmy O'Neal Ivy; two great-grandsons, Will and Wyatt Treat; a sister, Mamie Ivy Kirkland, a brother, S. L. Ivy and one nephew, Michael Lynn Ivy.

Pallbearers will be Alan Wilson, Scott Wilson, Daniel Ivy, Jason Treat, Roger Ivy, and David Ivy. Honorary pallbearers are Chester King, Roy Hayden, Tommy Winningham, Corey Wilson, Trevor Wilson, Michael Wilson, and Kade Ivy.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel with Doc Spurlin and Tom Ivy officiating. Burial will follow at York Cemetery in Marcella.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Donald is the son of George Gray and would have like to gone to the funeral. We remember Fred and George coming to Cordell, Ok to some of Mattie and D. Kings funeral. I think George and our daughter Linda correspond. Our prayers are with you.
