Mabel Roberts Mercer, 84 of Batesville died Friday at a local nursing home.
She was born in McHue Arkansas and was the daughter of Authur Roberts and Audrey Hallmark Roberts. She was a 1947 graduate of the Arkansas School for the Deaf in Little Rock. She worked for Crowell Cleaners in Westside Batesville for many years and was a member of West Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending church and listening to Gospel music. She also enjoyed traveling, going to restaurants and visiting with friends and family.
She is survived by her son, William ''Billy'' Bales of Batesville and a sister, Jewel Winona Finster also of Batesville. She is also survived by a nephew, Mike Roberts of Pleasant Plains and a cousin, Claudell Hallmark of Batesville and several other nephews, nieces and cousins. There will be no services.

At one time we attended church with Miss Mabel here in Batesville. She was a precious lady! We will never forget her sweet spirit or her sweet smile (which she was always wearing!)

Billy, Your mom was well loved by many people in Batesville, And some who lived in Little Rock went to school with your mom, also alot of the church people love your mom, I will be praying this will wake you up and realize You will be alone now, search your heart and find God.
