Betty Perry Fallis, of Tucker, Georgia, formerly of Arkansas, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 from complications following surgery.
Mrs. Fallis was born to Greer Perry and Della Croft Perry in Crested Butte, Colorado. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, earned a Bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas), and obtained a Master’s degree in Library Science from the George Peabody College for Teachers at Vanderbilt University. Over a career spanning more than four decades, Mrs. Fallis served as Librarian/Media Center Coordinator at Dollarway High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Butterfield Trail Elementary School in Fayetteville, Arkansas; Richards Junior High School in Columbus, Georgia; Norcross (Georgia) Elementary School; and Beaver Ridge Elementary School in Norcross. She also served for one year as an Instructor of Library Science at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Mrs. Fallis was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma National Teachers’ Sorority for more than 30 years, and most recently as a member of the Alpha Rho Chapter. Betty was a member of the United Methodist Church for 57 years. While living in Columbus, Georgia, she was a Member of the Administrative Board at Epworth United Methodist Church. For the past 31 years she has been a member of the Tucker First United Methodist Church in Tucker, Georgia.
She is surived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Lynn Fallis, of Tucker; her son, Charles Perry Fallis (partner, Robert Stephen Matthews) of Atlanta; and her beloved little dog, Felix.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 31, at 2:00 p.m. at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville officiated by Reverend Jim Brooks.
Pallbearers will be Mark Smith, David Smith, Steve Dobbins, Tom Joe Kosser, Skeeter Kell, and Gayle Croft.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 30, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home, 510 East College Avenue, Batesville, Arkansas.
Burial will follow at Charlotte Cemetery in Charlotte, Arkansas by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville.
