Charles L. Taylor, 76, of Batesville passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 at White River Medical Center.
He was born September 5, 1933 in Cave City and was the son of Clay and Ila (Brewer) Taylor. Charles worked in the hardware business for 50 years, and during that time, he worked for Jones Building Supply in Batesville, May Supply Company of Little Rock, and Southern Hardware of West Helena. He was an active member of the Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church for 50 years. Over the years, he served in various capacities including church clerk, superintendent of Sunday school, member of the building committee, and a church deacon. He was also a Mason and a Shriner. Charles was an avid golfer and loved the opportunity it gave him to spend time with his many friends. He also enjoyed reading in his spare time.
His biggest joy in life was his family and he was never happier than when they were all together.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pat Taylor of the home; daughters: Kathy Taylor Skinner and her husband, Bill of Maumelle; April Taylor Burton and her husband Jeff of Maumelle; grandchildren: Hal Skinner and his wife Heather Mize Skinner of Jonesboro, Charlie Skinner of Conway, Spencer Burton, and Sydney Burton both of Maumelle; two sisters: Carrie Watson of Cave City and Dorothy Taylor of Batesville; two brothers: Tommy Taylor of Conway, John Taylor of Batesville; and many nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Jack Taylor, Bobby Lee Taylor, one sister, Jo Mullen, and one infant brother.
Pallbearers will be Hal Skinner, Charlie Skinner, Max Rutledge, Billy Ed Campbell, Thurman Burton, Greg Finley, Phil Goodwin and Curtis Neeley.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Philip Wysocki officiating.
Burial will follow the services at Egner Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
