Mary Evelyn Teague

of Shirley, AR

June 25, 1929 - May 14, 2018

Mary Evelyn Byrd Teague, 88, of Shirley, Arkansas was born on June 25, 1929 to the late Marvin and Mary (Brantley) Byrd and went to be with her Lord on May 14, 2018 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Evelyn was a dearly beloved mother, grandmother, great - grandmother, great - great grandmother, sister and friend. She was a haven for all that knew her. Evelyn never turned away a child or grandchild. She was truly an angel on Earth, always a kind word, shoulder to lean on or hugs to give. An example to everyone she met. Our shining star will surely be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Butch Byrd and one grandchild, Rachel Sandoe.

Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Sandra Lynette Sandoe (Gary) of Malabar, Florida, one son, Jerry Scott Teague of Shirley, five grandchildren; Lisa Lueken (Mike), Shawn Teague (Carie), Kayen Sawrie (Tom), Leah Smith (Courtney Hagar), Joshua Teague (Tessa), nine great grandchildren, one expected great-great grandchild, six siblings; Buddy Byrd, Betty Ott, Fran Batts, Robert Byrd, Dorothy Folkman, Doug Byrd, other relatives and many friends.

When I thought of our family, you always came to mind as the center piece to our entire Byrd family. I will never forget the slices of bologna and cookies at your store. Sweet lady and a mind that was sharp as a tack will always be my memory.

Love you from

Ms Evelyn was loved by anyone she came in contact with. Our family loved sitting on the porch listen to her stories and laughter.

Evelyn was such a wonderful person. She was our next door neighbor on Bart Street, West Helena. I have memory that I will never forget about her. 48 years ago very early in the morning, Evelyn came over and told us that he had just received a phone call from my mother and my Mother wanted Fred & me to come to the Baptist Hospital where my Dad was and also bring my sister, Opal Jean Byrd & Robert along with my brother Melvin White. We thought my Dad had gotten worse however, Evelyn just could not tell us what has happened to my Dad. She was so much like part of the family, her brother was married to my sister. We were members of 2nd Baptist Church and so was she! My sons will never forget her Grocery store also!
