Donald Lee Moore

of Harrison, AR

July 16, 2017

Donald Lee Moore, age 81, was carried in the arms of angels to his eternal home in Heaven early Sunday, July 16, 2017. Don was in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Don was born in Alpena, Arkansas July 21, 1935, to Arvil and Mary (Bliss) Moore. Don was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Donald moved to Harrison at the age of 13 and finished attending school in Harrison. He met the love of his life, Dody Close, at the age of 14, and convinced her to begin dating a few years later. Don and Dody were married February 27, 1954 at the age of 18 and 16 respectively. Over the next 63 years they were seldom seen apart. They had two children, Debbie and Steve. Throughout his life, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He began his working career as a soda jerk at Sim's Drug Store. In 1959, Don began working as a machine operator at Flexsteel Industries. Don spent the next 45 years of his career dedicated to this company. His hard-work, patience, perseverance and keen sense of problem solving allowed him to be promoted numerous times throughout his tenure. At the time of his retirement in 2003, Don was the manufacturing manager.

There were many activities Don loved to do with his family during his free time. He loved attending church, camping with the Hogwild Hitchhiker Club, fishing on the White River, woodworking, gardening, mowing, and learning magic tricks. Don was also a deacon of his church and served as a Gideon. He loved to master new challenges every day. There was no doubt he mastered loving his family. He would have gone to the ends of the earth to protect them. Don and Dody's marriage was a true reflection of Christ's unconditional love.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Dody Moore, of Harrison; his daughter, Debbie Harp and spouse Larry of Harrison; his son, Steve Moore and fiancée Tina Pearce, of Harrison; his granddaughter, Morgan Harp, of Branson, Missouri; his granddaughter, Stephanie Harp DeWeese and spouse Taylor of Siloam Springs, and his grandsons, Nathan and Seth Moore and Braxton Smith, all of Harrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Wednesday, July 19, 2017, and the funeral service followed at Roller- Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison, Arkansas.

Interment was at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Harrison, Arkansas.

Pallbearers were Nathan Moore, Seth Moore, Taylor DeWeese, Rick Brasel, Larry Cantrell and Chuck Robinson.

Honorary pallbearers were Stanton Cram, Eddie Dean, Glen Feldman, Clifton Griffin, Bill Lovell, Mike Moore, Bob Ott, Shannon and Peggy Payne, David Richardson, Bryan Thompson, Dick Campbell, Hogwild Hitchhikers Club, Johnny Walters, his CrossRoads Community Church family and Flexsteel colleagues.

So sorry to hear of Dons passing. I always had a burden to pray for Don as I passed by his house early in the mornings on the way to work. I enjoyed knowing Don. I always noticed his distinct style and his smile. He was a kind, serving, humble man. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless. Jerry and Marla Corder
