She is survived by four children, Evelyn (Earl) Vance of Naylor, AR, Steven Hendrich and Gloria (Jim) Lercher of Little Rock, AR, and David Hendrich of Vilonia, AR; and five grandchildren, Jeremy Engdahl of Greenbrier, AR, Sarah (Marty) Sanders of Mount Vernon, AR, Dr. Matthew (Lindsey) Hendrich of Jonesboro, AR, Mary Joy (Brandon) Bush of Redwater, TX, and Hannah Hendrich of Little Rock, AR. Joy exemplified her name: J for Jesus first, O for others second and Y for yourself last. Her passion was telling others about Christ. During the late 1950's and early 1960's Joy had a Children's bible story program on KCON in Conway, AR. She presented weekly Bible lessons at various Faulkner County schools and along with her husband, conducted Sunday morning services at the Arkansas Children's Human Development Center in Conway, AR.
In 1962, Joy and Winslow became the Arkansas State Directors for Child Evangelism Fellowship, a position they held for 30 years. During that time they shared the Gospel with countless numbers of children and adults at many County Fairs and the Arkansas State Fair. They also conducted Teacher Training classes to help other teachers learn how to share the Gospel. After retiring from CEF, they moved to Vilonia, AR, where they immediately became involved with Children's Church at Vilonia First Baptist.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, AR. The funeral service will be at First Baptist Church in Vilonia, AR, on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 10:00 am.
Sending hugs and prayers from Indiana. I am sorry that I wasn't able to make it. I wish that we had lived closer. I always will remember Aunt Joy as a loving and caring person. She only wanted me to know and have Jesus Christ in my heart. She was a great woman that has gone home . Wishing her eternal peace.
She was the sweetest, most generous person I have had the pleasure of knowing. She is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To all the family, you are in my prayers and thoughts.
I am so sorry to hear of Joy's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Reading Rev. 21:3, 4 and John 5:25 have always brought me comfort, and hopefully will do the same for you.
Joy was one of the best human beings I have or will ever know. She was such a blessing to anyone that had the pleasure of being in her presence. I have loved her from the moment I met her. She was just one of the blessings I received by being best friends with her granddaughter Charity. I'm so thankful to her family for sharing her with me. Much love! Praying for her beautiful family. She will be greatly missed.
To Family,
Ms. Joy was a wonderful person who let others see Jesus in her. She told them about Jesus and she lived the Christian life.
So sorry for your loss.
Sammie Krisell
To all the family you are in my prayers and thoughts.
