Mary Evelyn Reubell

of Harrison, AR

August 2, 1921 - May 22, 2017

Mary Evelyn Reubell, age 95, of Harrison, went peacefully to be with her Lord Monday, May 22, 2017, at Hillcrest Home. She was born to Johnie Bryan and Vickie (Shaddox) Ervin August 2, 1921, in Marble Falls, Arkansas. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Austin Reubell; a daughter, Sharon Reubell Lair; 2 infant baby brothers; 3 brothers, John, Bailey, and Norman Ervin; a sister, Mildred Hopper; a niece, Jackie Reubell; a nephew, Jimmy Dale Tate Jr.; and a great-great-granddaughter, Jaxsyn Mae Larimore.

As a young woman, Evelyn was a 1st - 8th grade school teacher at P. D. Flatt and Flatrock Community Schools. Evelyn married Austin Reubell in 1945. She showed amazing unconditional love and truly blessed her family as a Proverbs 31 wife and mother. ''She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed.'' Proverbs 31:26-28. She left her family a tremendous legacy of putting others first.

As a result of her faithful years of service and work ethic, Evelyn retired with honors from Windstream, formerly Alltel Corporation. She enjoyed working and serving others as a telephone operator and retired in 1986 with many years of perfect attendance.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Alan McAnally, Vickie and John Green, and Harold Lair; her sisters, Essie Tate and Helen Clavey; her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Charlotte Ervin; her brother-in-law, Bill Hopper; 7 grandchildren, Teresa Lewis and John, David McAnally and Tammy, Johnna McGarrah and Paul, Paul Green and Robin, Scott Green and Saprina, Natalie Mazzanti and Allen and Matthew Green and Amanda; 24 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Visitation was May 25, 2017, at Eagle Heights Baptist Church. Celebration of Evelyn's life followed the visitation. Interment was at Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David McAnally, Paul Green, Scott Green, Matthew Green, Allen Mazzanti, John Lewis, Nick Dunn and Kruz McAnally.

Honorary pallbearers were staff and friends of Hillcrest Home, Amanda Chitsey, and Dr. Victor Chu.

The family of Evelyn Reubell wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the wonderful staff at Hillcrest Home and church family at Eagle Heights Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Missions Fund at Eagle Heights Baptist Church.

My deepest sympathies go out to the entire family. You were such a sweet aunt to me and sister to my dad. Can still smell the great home cooking as a little girl in her kitchen when I went with Mom and Dad to stop by for a quick visit. I know you will miss her but rest assure she is in the arms of Jesus. Love you all. Wish I could be at the service but know you are in my prayers.

I have many wonderful memories of Aunt Evelyn both from childhood and again when she would bring me tomatoes from her garden at our restaurant. I feel so fortunate to have known her and to be a part of her family. She was a blessing to my family as well as everyone who knew her
