Allen Dale Eakin left this world on Thursday, April 27, 2017. He was 68 years old and was born to Allen Dewey Eakin and Juanita Catherine Miller Eakin Baxley in Little Rock, Arkansas. His parents and a brother, Jamie Kay Eakin, predeceased him along with his stepmother, Cloreda Marjorie Eakin. He was also predeceased by a sister-in-law, Carolyn Talbert.
He served for 22 years in the United States Air Force receiving many medals that include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Humanitarian Service Medal. After his time in the Air Force, he worked using his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Electrical Communications Engineering for his second career.
Survivors include his wife, Etta Talbert-Eakin, at their home in Southaven, Mississippi; three sons, Gary(Melissa Olney) Eakin of Benton, Louisiana; Patrick (Brienne) Eakin of Ferndale, Michigan; and Nicholas (Lauren) Eakin of Sanford, Florida; one stepdaughter, Jody (Matt Cleveland) Drewery, of Lewiston, Idaho; sister, Janet Dee Moore; stepsister, Linda (Freddie) Pike of Greenbrier, Arkansas, stepbrother, Jimmy (Carrie) Furgerson of Vilonia, Arkansas; niece, Adaire Thessing, of Perryville, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Tommy (Marianne) Talbert, of Benton, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Gina (Keith) Holliday, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; father-in-law, Therman Talbert of Benton, Arkansas; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Ashley Eakin.
He loved music and travelled all over the world with the Retreat Singers as their first drummer out of Little Rock, Arkansas' Trinity Episcopal Cathedral with Father Shippey. For a while he and some co-workers had a band in the Detroit, Michigan, area playing small venues. He took great pleasure in telling corny jokes and enjoyed teasing others and just enjoying life. He overcame many obstacles in life and achieved a successful life. It is with joy to know he can rest with God and be at peace.

I am sorry for your loss and also sorry that we just never could find him for the various Retreat Singer reunions and other functions over the years. His time with the RS clearly meant a great deal to him.We will be thinking of him and his family.

I knew Dale (Allen) from school years as we rode the school bus many years. I enjoyed reconnecting through Facebook as many years have passed since those school bus rides! He was always a joker and I enjoyed many laughs with him. My condolences to his wife, his children, grandchildren, other family and his many friends. May you rest in peace and I know the jokes continue my friend.
