Ralph L. McCoy, 86, of Mayflower passed away on Monday, January 30, 2012. He was born on Thursday, September 3, 1925 in Cleveland, AR to the late Jeff and Julia Mae (Newton) McCoy.
Mr. McCoy was a member of Green Grove Lodge #107, Order of Eastern Star Palmetto #47, and Cadron #581. He was a Deacon and door greeter of First Baptist Church, Mayflower for many years. He loved gardening and working in his yard. He was an avid camper with membership in two R.V. Chapters Toad Suck Sams and Mayflower Pilgrims, and was a past president of both chapters. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served on an Aircraft Carrier. He taught math and social studies in Mayflower Schools for eighteen years before moving to Alaska, where he taught math at Service Henshew High School for ten years. He coached varisty basketball at Service Henshew for three years.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Lillian Fayrean (Dickens) McCoy; son, Jeffery Lynn McCoy (Patsy); three grandsons, Billy McCoy (Robin), Lindsey Scott McCoy, and Kenneth Pappera (Carla); granddaughter, Anglique Rappold (Allen); three great-grandsons, Caleb Killum, Ethan McCoy, and Isaiah Rappold; and sister, Ila Mae Garrett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph L. McCoy, Jr. and Jerry Virgil McCoy; and two brothers, Wilburn D. McCoy and Carl McCoy.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Mayflower with Brother David Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Mayflower Cemetery with Wade McCaghren, Billy McCaghren, Jr., Michael Williams, James Gamble, Wilbert Cummings, and George Roberts, serving as pallbearers. The Deacons of the Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church, Mayflower, PO Box 5, Mayflower, AR 72106.

Brother Lindsey was a fine man,teacher, and christian brother and for the time left to us on this old earth he will be missed but we will see him again. May God bless you Fayrean and family during this trying time. I pray that the Lord will give greatly of His love and grace to you ' all.

Brother McCoy was a good man, Mason and friend. I know he is up in that Celestial Lodge above with the Supreme Architect of the Universe just a smiling. He always had that Mason smile. There he will have no more pain, nor sorrow or tears. Our sincere sympathy & prayers go out to the family in this hour of sorrow.
