I knew Jim and Nellie from when time began for me, My parents Eva and Tommie jackson would invite them over for after church dinner. On a summer vacation we stayed with them on a cross country road trip. Jim was the real deal... he had the ability to connect with anyone at any level. He was never one to judge only encourage. Some Cristian folks are one way around the church and completely different away from it. Jim was a straight shooter all along. Great guy... Fantastic Family. If anyone deserves a mansion in Heaven, Jim Hicky does. So very sorry for the family's loss.
This man shaped my future back in the 90’s. I have been trying to track him down but unfortunately I was too late. Mr.Hickey will always have a special place in my heart.
Dear Nellie, Brett, Dennis & Bart & family, Who else would know the strength & love for God that your beloved husband, father & grandfather had. My memory of Jim & Nellie goes all the way back to teen years before you boys were even born. I've always held your parents in high esteem and love. May God bless you all and unite you to God daily.
Shirley
IIt was my honor to know Jim since his teens. His crossing, so young, saddens me. A dear brother, Alvie (Bud) Hash, whom I had baptized into Christ some years before, converted him. Jim was baptized into Christ by Brother Johnny Elmore, during a meeting at Covina, CA, a meeting that Bud had insisted Jim attend. I found as the years went by, when Jim, in his prime, saw a truth, he accepted it without quibble, without argumentation. Bud Hash and his wife, Mardell, considered Jim, Nellie and their boys as the children and grandchildren they never had. My Brother, "The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift us his countenance upon you and give you peace" (Numbers 6:24-26). We will meet again. So long, farewell, my dear Brother, "until the day break, and the shadows flee away." (May 18, 2010)
Dearest Nellie, Brett, Bart, Dennis and each one of your families, We love and appreciate your family for what you have done for the Church and God's work. Jim was definitely a person that loved God and wanted to help each and every person make it to Heaven some day. He fought for Truth no matter what the people around him were doing and I know that God will reward him for all his efforts. May God bless each and every one of you! Fred, LaClida and family

Jim has planned, prepared and looked forward to this day for many years. It is and has been his heart's desire to be with his Lord. Mission accomplished. Jim was one of the most fearless soldiers of Christ I have even known. May the peace of God that passes all understanding fill your minds and hearts as you look forward to the reunion that most assuredly awaits. The Shirey family is indebted to the Hickey family for their love, support and nurturing during our infancy in the Lord’s church. Inspired by them, we strive to do likewise. John 8:31-32 – “If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”. Who could hope for more? Jim is FREE! Dear Hickey family: God bless you, in the name of Jesus Christ the Father's son and our Lord & Savior.
My heart and prayers go out to you, your boys and their families. I'm so sorry for your loss!
The place this man and his dear wife Nellie have in our hearts cannot be filled by anyone else. They were such an important part of our life as babes in Christ. We have loved them for 40 years and were saddened by his illness and now by his passing. He has earned this rest.
I only knew Jim for the time he was here in Mountain Home but was very impressed with his teaching and fervor. The brotherhood has lost a great evangelist and my prayers go out for Nellie , Brett and the grandkids.
