It is now 2023. The pain is still there just not overwhelming. I am now old and miss Al's warm, caring love he showed to me. This world needs his kind of love. The good thing about this time of my life is how close I am to seeing my precious sons Alan and Harris, my brother Bill, my sister Sue, my nephew Jordan, Mom and Dad. O what a day of rejoicing that will be!

9/10/21-Baby, it's been 12 long years since you went home. Sometimes my heart absolutely aches for you. I miss our talks, your beautiful blue eyes, your crazy humor and finally your compassion. I just miss you. I don't get to talk to anybody anymore about you and that breaks my heart. Please be in the front with Harris when I get to come home. Tell Froney and Elmo I love them. By sweetheart. I love you so much and I can't wait to see you again..... Mama

We are so saddened to learn of Alan's untimely death. My grandmother, Josephine Coon, was Alan and Bradi's nanny/babysitter for a few years when I was a child. She thought very highly of the Cozart family and adored both of the children. Please accept our family's most heartfelt sympathy. We pray that time will bring you healing and peace.

Alan took up for me at Mabelvale and protected me from a bully in choir (and my own mouth), and I filmed many of his ball games at Mabelvale and McClellan for the coaches. So, now I will take up for him. He knew what he was doing when he took ballet and the other guys giggled. He was not afraid to experience life, and his untimely passing should be a reminder to the rest of us to do the unthinkable. Cheers to Alan!

Losing a family member like Alan can cause a loneliness unlike any other, but having all the loving family he left behind will help. I did not know Alan as well as most of you and I started not to write this, but I wanted the family to know that every time I ran into Alan he always had a hand shake and a smile and I did know he was a great guy. Everyone always knew how proud he was of his kids, because every time he talked about them his eyes would light up. You guys make your dad proud and I know he is smiling down at you now.

I know he will be missed by many and try to remember all the special times you shared with him when times are hard.

I have known Alan since he was 12 years old when we moved to Little Rock. This was when I realized what a special person he was because my daughter, Shannon, who was 3, fell in love with him and the patience he showed to her through out those early years. I remember when we moved to Dallas and he and his basketball teammates would come and decorate our 12 foot Christmas tree for a free meal. I will miss his beautiful smile and great big hugs but will never forget him. My love to Molly, Jeanne' and Bradi.

In remembrance of your Dad:

Miss me, but let me go

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free

Miss me a little - but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me - but let me go

For this is a journey that we must all take
And each must go alone
It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home

When you are lonely, and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me - but let me go

To the entire family: I am so sorrry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I played basketball with "Big Al" in High School at McClellan High 1982-83, during that year we were ranked #1 a couple of times in the state. "Big Al", "Dill", "Pete", "CJ", "Stew", "Murph", "Cooter Todd", Vernon, "Strange", the whole crew. "Big Al" was the glue that held that team together. I remember "Big Al" as sophmore in High School, he was always a hard worker. I hadn't seen him in maybe 6 years, but the last time I seen him he was playing softball at Interstate Park and he still carried that big smile that I remembered from our days in High School, much love to you "Big Al". I like to say to the family, I know you all love "Big Al" as well as I did and a mountain of others, but God loved "Big Al" more. I hope that none of you all lose hope of being with him again, because we all have reservation without the privelege of cancellation, we too someday will have our date with death, but the Word of God says in Hebrew 9:27, "IT IS APPOINTED FOR MAN TO DIE ONCE, AND AFTER THAT THE JUDGMENT" I am not "homesick", but one day I look forward to seeing "Big Al" again. God bless you Ms. Cozart, Mrs "Big Al" and all his kids and extened family, you all keep on running the race that God has set before you and at the close of life's stay we shall see "Big Al" again.

Alan was one of the greatest basketball players I ever played with. He came to me my freshman year and helped me get through the tough times on and off the court. I will always remember Alan being there for me during that year. Although it’s been a long time I feel like I lost a good friend. My family and I are praying for you.

I was totally dumb-founded when I heard the news of Alan's passing. A thousand memories were going through my head as I left Little Rock Sunday on my way back home after a holiday visit with my family. Thinking back on the many memories I had of Alan in High School I caught myself smiling, laughing and ultimately ended up crying. Such a tragedy. My heart goes out to his family. He will be remembered and missed by so many.

Alan worked with me for 6 years, I know his death is a hugh lost to his family who he loved so much, talked about them all on a regular bases. He was a Godly man, great employee, and a good friend to so many people, and his fellow workers all Love him also, he will be missed, May God comfort and Give his peace to the family to deal with this lost. God Bless!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Alan was a great friend of mine in high school and I thought a lot of him. Always a smile on his face and making others feel good. My prayers are with your family. Donny Drennan
