J. R. Cobb, age 78, of Omaha, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri. He was born February 3, 1939, in Harrison, the son of Ira and Mava (Curtis) Cobb-McVey. J. R. was preceded in death by his Ira W. Cobb, G. C. McVey Jr., and Mava (Curtis) McVey.
J. R. started Cobb Excavating Company in 1961 and continued his business until his health began to fail. He was also a farmer and cattleman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. J. R. married Janyce Mahler April 5, 1957, and they would have celebrated 60 years together next month.
J. R. is survived by his wife, Janyce Cobb, of the home; his son, Brent Cobb, of Omaha, Arkansas; his two daughters, Brenda Cobb and Lisa Cobb Arnold and husband David, all of Omaha; his sister, Kathryn Williams, of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers, Russell Cobb of Harrison and Jeff McVey of Strafford, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation was Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Graveside service was Monday, March 27, 2017, at the Omaha Methodist Cemetery, with Bro. Freddy Blevins officiating.
Grandchildren served as pallbearers.
Will really miss you. Rest in pease my friend.
