Mabel Ellen (Sims) Bentley died peacefully in Harrison, Arkansas Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Meadie (Plumlee) Sims; her son, Paul Atkinson; her brothers, Truman Sims and Floyd Sims; her sister, Nellie Madle; her husband, Bill Bentley; and her nephew, Guster Madle.
Mabel is survived by nieces, Helen Bealert, Teresa Lingerfelt, and Gloria Carr; her nephews, Marvin Sims, David Sims, and Velton Sims; her nurse and dear friend, Candace Clarke; plus a host of great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Mabel was born February 16, 1925, in Compton, Arkansas. She graduated from School of the Ozarks and then taught for a short time at Plumlee School. After a move to Seattle, she worked at Boeing Aircraft where she received the highest security clearance. After an early retirement, Mabel came back to Arkansas where she met and married Bill Bentley.
Mabel will always be remembered for her beautiful singing voice and outgoing personality. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family. The family wishes to thank Harrison Health and Rehab for their wonderful care of Mabel.
Graveside service is 3:00 PM, Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Plumlee Cemetery, with Bro. Bob Meredith officiating.
