Billy W. Hester

of Harrison, AR

August 1, 1931 - July 31, 2016

Billy W. Hester, age 84, of Harrison, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born August 1, 1931, in Ringgold, Louisiana, to Lloyd and Florence (Walker) Hester.

Bill was a member of Northvale Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband of 66 years to his wife Mary. At 6 foot 10 inches tall, he played basketball for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks and continued to follow the Hogs in all their sports. He worked over 30 years for Halliburton Services in Duncan, Oklahoma and retired to Harrison.

Bill was known to be a jokester and could make anyone smile and was a devoted family man. He loved to travel and went on many trips in his motor home. Gatherings of family and friends normally centered around the dinner table and he was known to be as ornery and stubborn as the day is long.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mary; his son, Phil (Rebecca) Hester, of Leander, Texas; his daughter, Lynn Ellen Hester, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; his grandson, Chris (Jillian) Hester, of Smyrna, Tennessee; his great-grandson, Austin; and two nieces and two nephews.

Memorial service was Friday, August 5, 2016, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Byron Cothran officiating.

Private interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.

You guys were such a cute couple. Mary, you will miss him, but have wonderful memories to hang on too. Mary and family:

So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Remember good times with you and Bill and the rest of the family. Ernest died in 1911, and still gets lonely, however I am in good health and still live by myself at 84. It happens to all of us that one mate dies and leaves the other for a few years.

Prayers for peace for you and family.

Love you......
