Vernon Lee Terpening, age 85, of Marble Falls, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at his home. He was born July 15, 1930, in Ava, Missouri, the son of Albert and Josephine (Ronish) Terpening.
Vernon served in the Army during the Korean War. He belonged to the Union Baptist Church, and retired from the Arkansas State Highway Department. Vernon used to love fishing! He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved hosting cookouts with his family, as Vernon was the lead cook and prepared excellent chops and hamburgers.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; Connie Sprague (step-daughter); Heidi Houser (step-granddaughter); and four sisters and six brothers.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Edna, of the home; his daughters, Loretta Terpening, Pat (Randy) Estes, and Betty (Kent) Johnston; his brother, Teddy Terpening; and his sister, Della Mae McCutcheon. Vernon is also survived by his son, Wayne (Angie) Terpening; his step-sons, Rocky (Debbie) Houser and Rick Houser; ten grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and a host of great-great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
A family graveside service was Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Sand Hill Cemetery in Yardelle, Arkansas.
